On December 5th, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 came out in theaters. The movie is a sequel to the first movie, which was released in late 2023. It drew inspiration from the FNAF 2 game, as well as the book series “The Twisted Ones.” Grab a bag of popcorn and let’s begin!
As a summary
We are first introduced to a revenge-filled spirit, Charlotte (Marionette). While Mike is meeting up with Vanessa, his younger sister, Abby, is still sad about how their last encounter went with the old animatronics. We find out that Vanessa (the night guard) is still dealing with her problems and is trying to move on from them. Abby discovers the “new” to animatronics. As the story progresses, Mike and Vanessa unveil many untold secrets about the old pizza plex.
Before the movie even starts, there are many old previews and ads that play about old attractions with animatronics. What made it cool was that they remained the same old fashioned quality (heavily pixelated). It’s interesting to see how scary they were looking back.
A new approach
The movie itself was very scary; the jump scares were actually terrifying. The lighting for every screen was on point. There were many easter eggs and inside jokes, such as Shadow Bonnie and the Freddy plush. A lot of the time, you will see people dress up as different characters and merchandise. The movie is enjoyable to all, even if you’re a brand-new fan. It is safe to say that the movie reached its targeted audience. Although the movie isn’t as perfect as you think it is.
Sometimes the actual acting was very awkward. There are many instances that we are reminded that this is only inspired by the games, so it’s not lore accurate, for example, Charlotte’s back story. Although she is still the daughter of Henry Emily, the way she became the Marionette was not the same.
